Light the fire

In a cozy home, different from the one you know, inhabited by a mother named Penny, a peculiar incident unfolded. It was a chilly evening, and Penny was downstairs, diligently preparing dinner. As she deftly chopped lettuce for the meal, she couldn’t help but notice a gradual drop in temperature within the house. Shivers ran down her spine, so she called out to her child upstairs, asking them to light the fire in the fireplace. With a flicker and crackle, the fire came to life, casting a warm glow across the room. Penny expressed her gratitude to the unseen hands that had ignited the flames.

As Penny continued her culinary preparations in the kitchen, her attention was suddenly drawn to a figure walking past the doorway. Surprised, she called out her child’s name, thinking they had come downstairs. The figure, however, made no response.

Upstairs, her child was engrossed in watching a movie with a friend, far away from the kitchen. Curious, they walked to the stairwell, inquiring about their mother’s call. To their astonishment, Penny wore a perplexed expression and insisted that she had seen them downstairs. It sent a chill down their spines, for they were certain they had been upstairs the entire time. Neither of them had lit the fire, adding another layer of mystery to the unfolding events.

Strange occurrences didn’t end there. Occasionally, the family had witnessed ghostly ships, reminiscent of old colonial vessels, sailing by their home during the night. Penny, despite her disbelief in ghosts, couldn’t help but feel unsettled.

In the wake of these inexplicable incidents, more peculiar happenings continued to unfold around the house. Oddly, they discovered lifeless animals scattered in their vicinity. Each event left them with more questions than answers, shrouding their home in an aura of enigmatic and unsettling occurrences.
